Strength and balance are trainable at any age, and this is the part of the diary we are most stubborn about. We assess walking, balance, stair technique, sit to stand and the ability to get down to the floor and back up again, then train the ones that need it. Where it helps we do the first visit at your place, because a step is not a step until we see the actual step, the hallway rug and the height of the bed. Some plans run through a GP care plan and some do not; either way the goal is the same.

Included in the price

  • Walking, balance, stair and sit-to-stand assessment
  • A progressive strength and balance program
  • Stair technique and getting up from the floor practised in the room
  • Home visit option within ten kilometres of the clinic
  • Practical advice on rails, steps and rugs where they matter

Asked about this appointment.

Do you come to the house?
Yes, within about ten kilometres of Norwood. A home visit is worth it for the first appointment when stairs, the shower step or the bed height are part of the problem.
Can this be covered by a GP care plan?
It can be if your GP decides you are eligible and refers you under a chronic disease management plan. Your GP sets the number of covered visits, Medicare pays a set rebate for each one and there is a gap you pay on the day. Bring the referral to your first appointment.
Am I too old to be getting stronger?
No. Strength and balance respond to training well into later life. The starting point is different, the progress is slower to look at, and it still works.

On this appointment

Reviews left for older adult mobility and balance.

  • Jodie came to the house first, which made all the difference because my back step is nothing like a step in a clinic. I go down to the letterbox without holding the rail now.

  • A straight progress read at visit three, in writing, including when it is not working
  • If we are not the right help, we will say so in the first appointment and there is no charge for it
  • The same physiotherapist for the whole plan wherever the roster allows
  • No treatment you have not had explained and agreed to first
